It’s like you work for the government. I tested my connection once at work and it was 1.8 down and .33 up.
Thankfully I moved to a different office and I can at least get in the 30s for my down speeds. I’d still love to know why the connection sucks so hard. I get it has a lot to do with volume, but still, that’s pathetic.

I live with this daily. I’m pretty convinced CenturyLink is garbage.

My mom has a 3mbps dsl connection at her house. She could get Comcast but doesn’t want to lose the real POTS phone line through centurylink.
It actually is ok for her even with her roku...just barely.

Nah, that’s like year 2000 level speeds.

Welcome to rural Ontario.
It’s surprisingly faster(ish) today then normal.

I know the feeling. I was getting home ‘broadband’ at these speeds through the phone line. Upgraded to fibre optic last month and although it’s not the fastest they offer, I’m getting between 59 and 75Mbps download which I’m quite happy with for my needs.

Good old satellite internet. The moment it’s overcast, it’s maybe half this speed. If it’s raining good luck trying to get on.

True, also about as bad as my internet in Texas. Fuck ATT. My internet here in GA is both much faster and cheaper.

But yet somehow the fucking ancient dorm I lived in freshman year got 100+ Mb/s down/up...

Try switching channels. I did that for my brother recently, and it worked wonders. He went from < 1 Mbps to 20+ Mbps.

If you had these speeds in 1990 to the internet, you would have been extremely fortunate. In 1990 you were lucky if you had 1200 baud. 1.2kbps. I was there. I suspect you were not.

We just moved to the country. That’s pretty much my home WiFi speed... Thankfully I can get 80 down on my phone over LTE!
